2025–2026 New Zealand Jet Sprint Championship — Season Preview
Get ready to feel the adrenaline! The New Zealand Jet Sprint Championship roars into action this December, promising speed, precision, and high octane racing across six rounds at four purpose-built tracks around Aotearoa.
These tracks are roughly the size of a rugby field, meaning fans are never far from the action. Boats launch from zero to 130 km/h in under two seconds, carving through 20+ corners in less than a minute. Each team makes four qualifying runs before the pressure ramps up in the Top 9, Top 6, and Top 3 elimination rounds, where champions are made.
Five Classes. One Epic Showdown.
Competitors will battle it out across four established jet sprint classes plus the exciting new NextGen junior class, giving drivers aged 8–16 the chance to race in custom-built single-seater boats and shape the sport’s future.
- Southern Jet Superboats (1000+ HP) – Last year’s runners-up Sam Newdick & Shama Putaranui are on a mission to reclaim the crown. Expect fireworks in the premier class.
- Group A (600+ HP) – Defending champions Ollie Silverton & Amanda Kittow are ready to take on a stacked field.
- MTW LS Class (580 HP) – After a fierce 2024–25 season, Patrick & Jay Haden and Tim & Debbie Edhouse (last year’s podium runners up) return hungry to battle it out for the top step with the rest of the field.
- The MTW Group B Class return for the 2025-26 season after a year off.
- NextGen Juniors – The stars of tomorrow hit the water for the very first time.
New Track, New Chapter
The all-new Mountain View Jetsprint Track near Stratford makes its championship debut, hosting Rounds 4 and 6 in 2026. It joins iconic venues Featherston, Wanaka, and Wanganui on a national circuit built for pure speed and close racing.
