With the exception of the following, this years rule book is identical to last Season:
NZJSA 2009/2010 RULE BOOK ADDENDUM (Effective October 1, 2009)
The following addendum is intended to supplement or replace sections of the current 2008/2009 Rule Book for the up and coming 2009 / 2010 domestic season and will become effective October 1, 2009. The rule changes / alterations / additions / deletion are as a request from racers and administrators via the AGM group forums and to bring our Domestic Rule Book closer to the current UIM rule book (Circuit 2009)
ITEM 1: REPLACE CURRENT RULE UNDER COMBINED RULES SECTION FOR ALL MAKES
Current ruling
Maximum of 2 intake valve seat inserts per head
Proposed ruling
No restriction on intake valve seat inserts
Reason: Request and discussions with members, Executive and Industry Professionals. The rule in this form negates a testing / teardown / compliance nightmare that would need to be adjusted as new materials / technology come on the scene so we have agreed with no restriction as suggested (and agreed on) by members at the AGM.
The rule is future proofed by doing this as insert material is a moving technology. It would take a lot of research to restrict certain materials etc and the rule would be outdated within 6 months (not to mention having to be checked).
The change also lessens the difference between current cast iron cylinder head rules and what would be included in possible future aluminium head rules if they were to eventuate looking towards the future.
This has the same wording and would match the current exhaust rule.
It is important to keep the rules stating “no restriction” rather than delete them altogether to avoid confusion.
ITEM 2: REPLACE CURRENT RULE UNDER SECTION 1.2.1 NEW ZEALAND GROUP A (APPLIES TO ALL MAKES)
Current ruling under “OILING SYSTEM”
Vacuum pumps are not permitted
Proposed ruling
Vacuum pumps are permitted
Reason: Request and discussions with members, Executive and Industry Professionals. This rule brings the New Zealand Domestic Rule Book into line with Australia and the U.I.M. rule book. This means NZ racers will not be disadvantaged when competing at an International level due to compliance with the NZ Domestic rule book.
ITEM 3: DELETE CURRENT RULE UNDER SECTION 1.2.1 NEW ZEALAND GROUP A (APPLIES TO ALL MAKES)
Current ruling under “OILING SYSTEM”
Valve covers must be vented to atmosphere
Proposed ruling
Nil. Delete existing rule
Reason: Request and discussions with members, Executive and Industry Professionals. This rule is made redundant by the alteration of Item 2 above allowing vacuum pumps. See notes for Item 2.
