World Series

The New Zealand Jetsprint Association (NZJSA) is proud to announce that we have officially secured the rights to a U.I.M. World Championship event to be held in New Zealand in early 2009. We would like to extend a welcome to all Domestic and International competitors to attend and compete in this outstanding International event. The World Championship will be held over 2 meetings with dates are as follows:

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1: Meremere Sprint Bowl, Auckland 4th January 2009

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 2: Oldfields Aquatrack, Featherston 10th and 11th January 2009

There will also be an International Invitation event to be held at the Shelterview Jetsprint Track, Wanganui on the 27th of December 2008 (the week prior to Round 1). This is not part of the U.I.M. Championship but is open to all International competitors and would provide a good shakedown for traveling race teams. Two Classes currently recognised by the I.J.F. will compete for World Championship honors as follows:

International Group A. and Superboat.

The I.J.F. rule book is currently being reviewed to bring it into line with recent developments and will closely mirror the operative rule books for New Zealand, Australia and the United States of America. This will be forwarded as soon as possible after approval by the sanctioning bodies to allow competitors to check for compliance. We (the NZJSA) will keep you informed of developments as they occur and will be providing your Countries governing bodies with information for distribution amongst its competitors. This will include information on Series Sponsors, Marketing Partners and news from the Track Promoters regarding the events.

We would like to see as many International Competitors make the trip “Down Under” (or “Over” as is the case for Australian racers) as possible to make this a truly memorable World Class event. See you here in 2009!
